BenQ W1070 1080p Full HD 3D DLP Projector Review
Colors are AMAZING on this BenQ W1070 projector. There is a reason it is ISF certified. The colors are fantastic out of the box but are even better when calibrated. I have mine setup on Cinema mode with Brilliant Color set to ON in EcoSmart mode and the Gamma set to 2.2. That is the best combination of brightness/color/ and contrast for my setup.
  • Built-in speakers are Plug-and-Play ready, only the power cord and video source connection are needed to prepare the viewing experience.
  • 2 HDMI inputs for video and gaming sources
  • The SmartEco Mode, which cleverly adjusts the lamp power to maximize power saving by delivering the best contrast and brightness performance using only as much light as needed.
  • The automatic switch to Eco Blank Mode after the projector is turned on for over three minutes without a display source, eliminating unnecessary energy waste and prolonging the life of the projector lamp.
  • The W1070 is ISF Certified for customization to any room, offering calibration for optimized color performance in both Day and Night modes that can adapt to any room?s layout, size and ambient light levels.
The primary uses for me are movie / television watching and gaming. The projector is in a room that does get some light during the day, and is projected into an Elite 150" projector screen. I configured user mode 1 with the following recommended settings from AV Forums and the picture quality is outstanding. Find great deals on BenQ W1070 1080P 3D Home Theater Projector (White)

I'm loving the fact that BenQ is keeping up to date, the firmware on the W1070/W1080st projectors. This is a good sign that they care for their consumers. The big improvements are faster HDMI handshakes, and more 3D support for SBS/OU rips.

BenQ W1070 1080P 3D Home Theater White Projector Pros:
  • 3D - Best out there
  • Brightness - One of the best projectors for rooms with ambient light; this also helps on the 3D end.
  • Sharpness - Very sharp picture.
  • Color/Greyscale - Colors were near dead-on after calibration, as was the greyscale. This projector overall calibrated better than my Panasonic GT50. Colors are extremely vibrant.
  • Bright/Day scenes - Sharp, vibrant, and almost 3D like.
BenQ W1070 1080P 3D Home Theater White Projector Cons:
  • Noise - The fan can be slightly noisy and distracting during quiet scenes or if you're watching at very low volume.
All things considered, I don't see how you'll beat this projector at the price, and it's even better than some more expensive projectors I've seen. The vertical lens shift (albeit, limited) is extremely useful for setup and usually isn't found at all on projectors at this price point.

More than 157 people has been buy BenQ W1070 1080P 3D Home Theater White Projector and 92% are satisfied (as 12/21/2013).

Overall, if you're willing to sacrifice some black level for top notch 3D, a sharp vibrant picture, and tons of light output, than you can't go wrong with this.
